Okay so hey Cat’s & Kittens all that VBA stuff’s outta the way and I can get back to business…I don’t only post my dysfunctional opinions here, oh God know, I regularly get involved in e arguments on a wide variety of sites lol, but one thing  after years of self analysis, generational analysis, logical maturational analysis (reevaluation of previously held beliefs as contrasted to new exposure/understandings as we age) and working with many young kids(mostly young white teens and twenty somethings) struggling to learn to maintain employment in my social service job. I have come to believe that this issue Rights Vs. Responsibilities, or more precisely, our new cultural understanding of how these two societal factors intertwine lie at the heart of our quickly failing country….

Prior to WW II, and fer awhile after, including even, somewhat, my generation our American culture first focused on responsibilities as an American citizen, if I learned those well enough, like say how to follow traffic laws, not because I had too, but because it was best fer society to have a standard set of rules to follow…then I would gain certain rights, like driving a car…

In the beginning, the founding of our country, only those people with land could vote, was this, as we have been (or are still) told because rich white guys wanted to control everything. No land owners had shown the responsibilities (and of course had the only real investment literally) in effort and monies to improve the country and so had a stake in the return of investments …I know this statement is oversimplified and many factors of course contributed to the success of our early America, but from duty and responsibility come reward, seems to ba a pretty good oversimplification if ya’ gotta roll with one…

It wasn’t until the mid-fifties that kids started hearing about their rights (and I know I was born in ’59 so I wasn’t actually there but…) certainly by the mid-1960′s when I was in school it was beginning to blossom, by the time I was in secondary education (mid-seventies) I was firmly aware of my rights as a young American…but the stress on my responsibilities as an American had vanished…completely (at least in my head)

Behaving responsibly in Public. The boring old days weren't really so boring (half were dry humping or getting blow jobs after the dance, but many, in that half, felt pressure to behave responsibly in public).

I know, I know, rights are fun, responsibilities are boooring…

But isn’t that where we are as a culture…it’s the new fun time feel good America….

Public display of right to behave however I feel. Kids today aren't as bad as they seem (half these kids don't really want to engage in public, anal and/or group sex, but many, in that half, will feel pressured to behave irresponsibly in public).

And remember, as with almost anything I write here on Dysu, I did not believe this growing up….

Here’s a concrete (forgive the upcoming pun) example: Public sidewalks…who do they belong to? When I was a young Dysu, a devil may care law breakin’ know yer rights and be ready to flaunt them kind’a guy, I believe like so many people now do…that public sidewalks are for everybody…(that’s my right man)…when I was a homeless Dysu (and very socialistic of course) I would nearly live (sleep, pee, do drugs, drink, fuck, fight) on the sidewalk and challenge people to “deny me my rights”. To do so after all, which the cops in the seventies and early eighties did regularly , was in my mind unAmerican, against the Bill of Rights(I had no idea what was in there I had spent my time in HS Government arguing against the fascist oppressive system instead of listening and learning)…The truth is though, that I did not pay for the use of the sidewalk, the public (taxpayers) own the sidewalk, pay for it’s upkeep, for the people who clean it etc…I am there by their grace. If i cannot utilize their property responsibly, or use it in a manner that make me a social nuisance, then don’t they have the right to deny me it’s use…I mean doesn’t that make sense…

Our American parks, roadways, etc all fall in the same realm, public lands, payed for by taxpayers (working Americans), the “right” to use them should be at the behest of those who actually own them…the responsible citizens of the America…

Oh but everyone pays sales tax on food and the like, you may counter (first of all that’s not 100% accurate some states and f00d products staples don’t have tax and and secondarily especially lately thanks to the large increase in Food Stamps many people don”t pay for food at all) but those taxes, though utilized by local Governments, are ostensibly to pay back the public for the use of  lands and services, transportation, inspection etc of those goods. We all benefit from the timely arrival of apples, and so we all pay a little to ensure continued access and availability, this does not translate though, then ipso facto to any citizen being able to use duly designated public lands for say a bedroom.

The thing is, I know I seem like I am off track but, ya see, we wanna keep teaching our kids about their rights, without first demanding that they show signs of being responsible…this is the new advanced child rearing method, it doesn’t seem to be working…

Teaching children about the amazing country they live in, what this great land has to offer all people, of all races, (as evidenced by certain news items I highlighted in the last few posts) and creeds, and how they can best access these great opportunities by first learning to be excellent responsible citizens of these united states…well

I know it sounds crazy…but that’s how I roll, I’m a Dysfunctional Unit after all

Okay so yea hey it’s  me Cats & Kittens the ol Dysu with another edition of how much CBS This Morning drives me up the wall…And I know, I mean if I were you I’d be like what the hell, just turn the damn channel, but here’s the deal, I don’t have cable, I got regular TV, so that means CBS, NBC, ABC, sometimes FOX, oh there’s a couple of others, CW (never watch it), RETRO, THIS (an affiliate of FOX) and three different PBS channels (probably the most viewed channels in our house apart from on demand through Netflix etc hooked up through Xbox). But fer news (and I have to watch news in the morning)there’s only the first three, and CBS is the least openly, offensively socialist of the three big news channels Morning shows…and trust me that is saying something…Anyway that is way off track but hopefully it explains while I am always railing against the poor f-tards who regularly try to put themselves off as unbiased news reporters…

Today though it  just a funny little report that I thought I’d write about. I thought two different things upon hearing it announced by Gail in teasers, the first one was…hell now we’re talking about sperm on National television in the AM hours, the second was how are they going to make Americans look bad here?

Okay so yea that was fun, don’t know if ya watched the whole thing but the important part was right in the beginning…

“But why? It’s largely due to America’s reputation as the gold standard in sperm, Time magazine senior editor Jeffrey Kluger said Thursday on “CBS This Morning.”

“As with any other good product, the two keys are quality control and versatility, variety of product. We have very, very strict (Food and Drug Administration) controls on who can donate and how heavily they have to be screened. We also have a multi-ethnic population, which means we’re very appealing to the world because people can come in from Japan, from Brazil, anywhere else and find a genetically, ethnically matching baby.

I sat there and watched all three of the Hosts…nothing, didn’t blink an eye…not one of them said a thing. I mean these are the same people who day after day assure us that America is the home of intolerant racists, that we are unaccepting of different races and cultures and that we need to be more, and more, and even yet more accommodating to any and all races and cultures…

Are we diverse enough yet Mommy??

Anyway I don’t wanna go on and on, I have already been extremely lazy in responding to e’s and comments and replies lol I was nominated for this award..

Which is cool and the Mate who  nominated me has a rockin blog, very funny and so I feel pretty amazed that he nominated an ol’ crazy machine like me…but okay so lemme see post back to his site…

Did that okay so seven things about me…a lot of info about me is available in earlier posts…wait I’ll ask Lil Mouse what she thinks I should put here…

Okay well she was busy with homework so…unfortunately yer stuck with me here…uh…tryin to think of things I haven’t shared…but maybe

1. I like all kinds of music, from Classical to Circle jerks, Carter family to Dean Martin to System of a Down, Oingo Boingo, Peggy Lee, and Wanda Jackson…But if I had to choose one Album it would be “Remain in Light” by the Talking Heads

2. I believe “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is the only good sitcom (okay Lil Mouse added “Arrested Development” and “Office” and I’ll give in on those) so anyway the three of them (excluding cartoons South park etc and Adult Swim [which I love of course Lil Mouse reminded me]0 So yea those three are the only good sitcoms ever to be produced on American TV…I believe remember

3.We do ( I mean of course I also) like British and Australian sitcoms

4.Jumped Jesus on a pogo stick, hopefully this isn’t too boring, also running out of ideas. Oh yea how bout this I don’t give an f what people think of me…

5. I was once in a movie (back when i thought I was gonna be rich and famous lol[now I just wanna be adequately well off and anonymous]

6. Hell ,almost done okay here’s Lil Mouse’s contribution taken from the Magnetic poetry kit, in the order she handed them to me: “White, Wiener, desert, toast, pot, coffee, smoke”

7. I am crappy at the internet and computer and am not so fond of technology in general, even now Lil’ Mouse is laughing at my efforts to embed that damn YouTube video…

Okay well this whole versatile blogger award thing got tacked somehow onto the bottom of my Sperm posts but I think I’m gonna roll with it as is except break it up into two pieces…see I started this post, and meant to do a second on VB but of course got carried away, but before I finish and nominate I wanna make sure that like the guy who nominated me, I’m not about to nominate someone who just got nominated a day ago…remember duck duck goose when you were a kid..well and I wanna be fair and also someone might not wanna be nominated…Anyway, I seriously hopin I am not makin some huge internet community faux paus…but then again remember ol #7…oh yea and #4 as well…Anyway so keep watchin I’ll be back with Pt. II of Versatile Blogger in just a bit…

When John and I were boys, a child gained self esteem by accomplishing new and ever increasingly difficult tasks, not just school work, but more importantly, the work you did to help around the house or the farm. Remember the time yer parent would not let you quit doing a job until you did it right(even if it meant till dark), an important (maybe the most) lesson to learn, and just as important it created(s) self esteem in the child.

Now fast forward to the way we parented our own children, did we use our parents  style or abandon it in favor of the new kinder gentler parenting, hovering helicopter friendly fun day parent…even if you are not, even if you are trying to instill core American work ethic values in your child, your child’s teacher is not.  Your kids teacher tells them that they are perfect(unless they are an American little boy of waspy descent). The teacher themselves may not hover but the system does; Spelling? optional. Math? new. Science? humanist religion….anyway I could keep goin on but…

Cause nothing says truth better than a stylishly made up and dressed woman, eating a cupcake while thinking about going on a diet, reading a book with sunglasses on indoors, by an author sure to impress her readers...

I think these are fine examples of the kind of crap…CRAP…that so many of you f-tards think are good ideas. I know that you do because I actually read a lot of your blogs….now to be fair most of the people who I am following are pretty funny and snarky* themselves, (even if they are a little more lib than I[and certainly more sane lol]) and there are I am sure countless blogs I have not found yet with like minded thinkers, but one of the reasons I have failed to find them yet is because I have to wade through so much Livin, Laughin, and Lovin and/or crazy New America Idealism that after awhile I snap and have to crank out some pissed off piece of post…

I mean personally I guess in the long haul, I don’t really give a shit, I’m nearing the end of my little run, I mean I f-d up a lot of it but it’s been fun, and I do understand that we meant (and you who still believe [mean]) the best…it all sounded so good, so right, so easy, but the evidence is in. It’s been fifty or so years in this grand experiment, the counter culture has become the dominant culture I should be celebrating, after all I’m one dysfunctional f-ed up piece of machinery only…the most tragic hilarity of all…I’ve come to see that society should not think like me…society needs to teach our kids that the easy way is the bad way.

The Builders of America

There is a reason that the culture that came to dominate and change  the whole world did so, and being kinder and gentler wasn’t one of them. There is a reason such a culture lifted all of it’s citizens (even the poor, minority and/or disenfranchised ones) into a higher standard (still) of living unknown in the world before then, and it wasn’t the government worrying about fairness…

Home of the Free and the Brave!

Am I saying that everything back in ‘ye old timey days was better? Is that what I said??  Read carefully, all I said is it’s time to admit that in many ways that are really important, our parents, our early American culture were right…hard work, sacrifice and long term planning will always get us ahead-don’t spend money we don’t have- judge someone by what they do, not who they are-sticks and stones may break our bones but names will never hurt us-ya can lead an f-tard to facts but they won’t see the truth-

Alright I made that last one up ’cause it was gettin a little boring, yes I know even I bore myself sometimes…what, you think I wanna keep talking about this crap…hell no…I wanna go back to being what nature and nurture seemed to want to combine to make me…irresponsible…but no…I gotta be this guy…the guy who keeps talkin’ bout personal accountability…just one more reason I’m Dysfunctional

Ya got complaints...Talk to the Chicken!!

Spanks for the Comment

March 11, 2012

Okay so to start with hilarious, your alternative, forward thinking views are about as cutting edge today as the hippie movement, oh it is to laugh…Men(white)=violence, racism, all others blameless and victims only…now thats some kind’a radically new philosophy you’ve come up with…

Oh wait what, okay so ya don’t know but I have been honored to have a guy comment one one of my poems in GS Years

I was very excited, I’d never had a negative comment, I mean I always thought fer sure it would come on this site first, but still it was great. I told Lil Mouse first thing. She wasn’t as impressed as I was. Her only comment was, ‘Now play nice’.

Well anyway of course, like with everyone who visits, I went to visit his site…..and that’s about where you entered.  But maybe I should link him up so you can go read it fer yerself before we go any farther.

As you can imagine I had just a little to say to abandonedculture. Here is how my comment started…

‘ac-Your post is very well written and funny but your opinions lack solid intellectual merit and a cohesive interactivity as well as…so many things don’t know where to begin.’

As usual however it wasn’t the beginning I had trouble with, it was the ending, or I guess specifically simply ending. What follows is the rest…

“This next one is going to be hard …..try and imagine a world where children are afforded the same basic rights as adults,” this is just one of your hilarious statements. You think you are being edgy by suggesting this? This has

Natural selection, survival is instinctual. We must be taught to get along

been the mantra of American child rearing pop psychology since I was growing up (and that’s a long time ago now)…Do you think talking out against people using physical discipline against their children is somehow being “not p.c.”?

Let me use that same sentence still “This next one is going to be hard …..try and imagine a world where children are afforded the same basic rights as adults,” What are you trying to say? Have you yourself actually tried to imagine this?? I am assuming (and we know what they say about that word) that you do not actually have children yourself, and forgive me if I am wrong, but let me know what you think after you do.

You seem to be confusing discipline with just plain ol violence…yes yes I know what about reason, what about reasoning with the two year old? You can discuss the many and varied reasons why he should not do…fill in the blank…and if he continues…well time out of course…

We have been doing this since the 80′s, or earlier in some cases; in bigger, more hip cities. So let me pose this question to you…Are young men less violent and out of control than they were say 50 or 60 years ago (during the hey day of white male cultural domination) or more out of control and violent…Don’t bother it’s a rhetorical question

Let’s move on to another piece of your so called “politically incorrect” diatribe “Now imagine a world where ‘black’ slaves were not given the same rights as ‘white’ people. A world where you can buy and own ‘black’ people and treat them as slaves. A world where a husband can beat his wife and that is considered pretty normal and acceptable too. And a world where hitting your kids is so commonplace it is considered a fundamental part of raising children.”  Two specific things 1. these issues have only a tentative link from a logic argument standpoint and so are tenuously tethered at best 2.You have described, in your statement, cultural norms in much of the world in the present day, except for in white American, or western European influenced cultures, the very culture you want to condemn. If you are saying we are bad because this is the way we acted well, okay…But first it’s neither, in this day and age, radically out of step with the main stream to suggest we not beat children (let alone keep slaves), nor is it the point of the gentleman whose position you have taken issue with. The MP is not advocating “violence” against children, but discipline, discipline specific to their cultural parenting style(you’re not suggesting his [mostly Africans] constituents cultural form of parenting is inferior to our[we'll call it neo-western style] are you?) I mean that might be something I might say but you seem more culturally sensitive than that.

Reasoning with children, once they gain the ability to reason, is preferable to physical discipline. And in most cases, with most children (more often with girls than boys[more often but not always]) reason, discussion even limited sanctions are enough. But in some cases (the opposite of above more often boys than girls) the eventuality of physical corporal punishment must be applied and better for society if it is sooner than later. As a parent it is up to me to decide how, for what measures, and what judicious purposes. Are there bad parents? Yes of course, there have been, are now and will continue to be parents who capriciously beat their children, or who misuse the term discipline, but they can do that without using any physical violence sometime with much more devastating effects.

Which again brings up the question who is this post addressed to, people like me?(though I used to believe as you do when I was logically immature). If that is the case then you are saying that spanking your child, or swatting their hand is violence against children. You are following a long treasured yet now solidly proven misguided theory of “the child knows best”. It’s pop psychology theoretical dogma unsupported by reality. “You can’t hit virtue, reason or good sense into a child any more than you can hit algebra or geography into that child.” Your statement is unsupported by fact, for thousands of years this is the way the human race functioned, we did indeed, and so much more so than now, beat values, morals and even algebra into some children.

I am not making a value statement, just stating fact.

Let me end with this. When I was a boy growing up (a time of strict discipline backed by threat of violence) If a swear word left my mouth when I was, say ten, any adult within earshot could have taken by the ear and dragged me back home to dear ol ma & pa, who would not only spank me for the said offense, but for the embarrassment in the community. Fast forward to today, ten year old kids normally spout whatever language they care to, any adult who challenges is mocked or worse….

Too late

Again this is not my opinion, this is just what is.

My opinion on it is that, it is, unfortunately, a lack of discipline, (in some cases judiciously physically applied, early enough) along with a youth first culture (children’s rights?)that is one of the foundations for the problems western societies are in today….

Now ac-before you comment, reply and I sincerely hope you do, it will help you develop the foundations of your arguments if you read some of my previous work to get a flavor for who I am (as I did with you before writing this reply turned post). I will leave suggestions in your reply box as well as a link to this post.

Thanks again ac-I do indeed hope ya stop by, and that you’ve enjoyed this post you inspired, please feel free to comment, that goes for any visitors supportive or otherwise, God Bless ya, seeking the truth is as honest a past time as claiming to have found it.

I don’t claim anything other than being dysfunctional. I jes my little dog speak, it’s up to you the reader to decide whats true

Kindler Gentler War?

February 28, 2012

Stunningly enough Cats & Kittens when a people declare war on another country, it usually means they are pissed off at them. I mean over and over on the news I hear why the Afghans, The Iraqis, the Pakistani’s the…okay really it’s not the people of those countries specifically, it is a segment (debatable on how large a segment) of these populations who follow a particular religion. And actually if we want to be honest (and ya’ know I like honesty) it is really only a portion of those individuals (again debatable regarding how large a percentage) who are actively pursuing harm against our country, our people, our soldiers…

What have we done to have pissed them off so bad…well what day is it?

Peaceful Muslims disdain violent protest techniques such as burnin..wait what?

I know I know, we burnt copies of the Qur’an (if we did? Remember the lie re: Guantanamo the bad Bush torture gulag[but good Obama temporary detainment facility] the burnt Book story out of  Gitmo turned out to be false). Before that what was it? Oh yea our bombing raids to neutralize enemy targets accidentally killed a number of women and children, (housed by the enemy in and among said military targets [should I mock their put on concern for their countrymen, or their hypocrisy for calling us murders after flying planes into non military targets full of civilians]). How bout the time before that? Or before that one? Wait what got these people pissed at us in the first place? Wasn’t it something about Kentucky Fried Chicken, I mean I know I hate that crap too but…No wait it was Saddam wasn’t it. We propped up a puppet dictator, yea but didn’t we admit our mistake and go back and kill that guy? Oh you mean the idea of propping up a puppet dictator? Oh no, you mean the other Puppet guy in Iran what was his name? Okay well, yea I can see yer point so…

But wait hold on how come we did that? What was going on in that region which made America, some thousands of miles away determined to try not once but twice to find a friend of America to run the place?

But, you (my imaginary verbal adversary) counter, “What about the time…?” then  I counter ‘oh yea well…”

And we can go back on the ol’ timeline quite a ways in this region, thousands of years of animosity, a boiling, roiling stew of prejudice and hate. How did we get in the middle of all that when all we really wanna do is open up a McFalafel House?

Oh yea Israel, our Judea-Christian heritage demands that we step up and protect Israel, after all she is our sister country in God right.  Only using God in this argument seems a little like the pot telling the kettle it’s a better shade of black…

Oh, now you've written on it! What's that say U.S.A....oh maybe that's in case some people didn't know. Good call on your part there

Ya see Israel isn’t just our allies, they have (fer the most part) joined modern society, like America, live and allow themselves to be guided by a cohesive world view.  The same cannot be said for our mutual enemy in this conflict.

Oh I mean yea sure they have computers and digital satellite link up and every amenity our oil money can buy, but they don’t let women drive cars, hack off body parts for petty crimes, and kill homosexuals all in line with the Institutional Quasi Religo-Government. (I know I know you libs think a Republican’s running the show over there…oh no wait, if that were the case then you’d be hot to stop them).

This recent brouhaha over the burning of the Qur’an is a prime example. If this case were reversed, lets say some Muslims students, during an angry protest at…oh let me pick a college at random…say Berkley accidentally burned some Bibles, it would be at the least, non news. But if it got picked up by the news media it would be reported as, “understandable due to their anger at the treatment of Muslims all over this country by racially insensitive white people.”

Oh sure there would be some out cry from southern churches, a threatened Qur’an burning, but America’s leaders would condemn such action openly and threaten legal action, eventually the worst that would happen to those students, here in evil intolerant America, is that they would get a brief bit of fame on NPR, but the book deal would fall through.

Now yer just bein silly. Two flags, one of 'em doesn't even have any stars...c'mon now!

Alright so let me be serious for a minute because in the end this is the companion piece to the “pauliacs post” from 2/26. See there was a time when American’s could travel all over the world and have no fear, or very little fear of being harmed, simply because they were Americans. So what has changed, are we that much worse of a country? No socially we are much better than we were say a century ago. Are we on a global military mission of conquest? No, if we want what you have America’s got other tools with which to bargain.

What has made us a target then…Our weakness. Nothing emboldens yer enemies like weakness, fear to act, fear to act swiftly, devastatingly.

That’s what speak softly and carry a big stick meant.

If, the next time we started a war, we went into it meaning to kick ass and win, (in it to win it as they say) far fewer lives would be lost and far less dollars spent.

It is trying to fight these kinder gentler wars that are not only dragging the wars out fer interminable lengths, but allowing the enemy time to re-group and rally.

We are in a war everybody, our enemy does not just see this as a war with just America, this is religious war, this is the ultimate battle.

I know, I know, we’re nice people, we don’t judge others, (unless this was some Christian right wing nut job group here in the ol U.S.A.) we’re the kinder gentler America with new and improved wishy-washy action. Our enemies however, are not. They are determined, resolute, and in for the long haul.

Okay! All right! Now yer just showin off! I mean four flags, two more and you get a roller coaster!

And possibly, just possibly, I’d be less dysfunctional over the whole issue if their world leaders would condemn the actions of this supposed minority (as ours would) but no instead the voices of world leaders, including our own, ring out in understanding and ask if they would be so kind to, possibly, maybe, consider the possibility, of maybe not killing  American’s for awhile…

Yea, that outta teach ‘em a lesson
